How specs get tested

Dimensions and weight are measured directly with digital calipers and a scale. Electronics, such as flash size, chip identity, or GPIO count, are confirmed against the real hardware: reading chip markings directly, or using a tool like esptool. Anything else is checked by hand against the physical part, wherever that’s actually possible.

How it shows on a product page

A product with at least one tested spec gets a Tested by DST badge next to the Specs heading, and each tested spec has its own checkmark next to the value.

If something looks wrong

We’d rather know than leave it wrong. Every Specs panel has a Spot a mistake link that opens a pre-filled email to us. Send it and we’ll check it and fix it.

Where the detail comes from

Manufacturers are asked directly for real specs and datasheets first. When that isn’t available, some products have an open request on Help Us Document the Catalogue, a UK-only programme where a product is sent out for free in exchange for the missing detail, evidenced with a photo.
